Star Wars toys

Post by Wednesday Toys on Wed Apr 24, 2013 2:44 pm

Fans of Star Wars: The Old Republic can rejoice as Sideshow Collectibles are set to announce pre-orders for their Darth Malgus 1/6th Scale, which is expected to take place Thursday in the States, so closer to Friday our time.

The figure looks fantastic, and will come with a bevvy of swappable parts.

As you can see, he takes a great many details from Darth Vader, but he looks great in his own right. Especially unmasked with his hood up!

Sideshow Collectibles will hopefully have some more details up soon.

Another announcement for an SDCC release - this time it's the Star Wars Black Series - Boba Fett, with Han Solo in Carbonite! This figure is a very well articulated figure, and the Black Series is something of an answer to the Masters of the Universe Classics line. Boba Fett himself stands about 6 inches tall, and comes with a bevy of accessories.

RebelScum have some wonderful hi-res images of Star Wars Vintage Collection toy packaging that will be coming out later this year. The Vintage Collection packaging has always been good quality, paying particular attention to the look and feel of the original toys back in 70s and 80s.

The latest Jumbo Star Wars figure has been announced, and it is Jumbo Zuckuss. Her's been digitally scanned from the original figure and blown up to 12", and comes with a fantastic, collector friendly card and package.

Now THIS I am looking forward to: a new Star Wars cartoon series, based on events that happen between the movies Episode III and Episode IV (which is the last of the 'new' movies to the first of the 'original' movies. So, Darth and the Emperor hunting down the Jedi.

Lots of friends are posting about it at the moment, especially with the hope that the art direction for it will lean more towards the original Ralph McQuarrie art. Dare I say, it's a new hope?

I'm positively quivering with anticipation as to what toys will be released to tie in with the new series (see what I did there?).

The Star Wars Blackhole Trooper Premium Format figure by Sideshow looks fantastic - it will be available soon on Sideshow's website!

Medicom are releasing a 1/6th scale RAH Tie Fighter Pilot - Backstabber! Look at him there, all glossy helmeted and black materialed. Makes me want to join the Empire!

Not a toy per se, but such a great idea!  Kids not wanting to take notes in class?  Not willing to pull out their notebooks?  Check out these note book covers - made from Star Wars toys backings!  Man, I wish I'd thought of that!  If only I had some extra card backs lying around...

Thanks to Kool Kollectibles for sharing this little linker with the next Star Wars Black figure - Greedo!

KK goes on to mention that Hasbro will be releasing one image per week of the next figures to get the Black treatment.

Sideshow Collectibles are previewing a 1/6th scale Boba Fett Prototype Armour. Originally Boba Fett's armour was designed to be white like a Storm Trooper's, and here it is in all of its white glory. If you ask me, I think this guy would would present besides other white Clone Troopers! (being their daddy and all).

Kotobukyia have released images of the up-coming Sandtrooper 2 pack of ARTFX+ statues.  These guys looks great, and are 1/10th scale.  The detail on these guys is just mind-blowing!

Sideshow are now taking pre-orders for the glorious 1/6th scale General Grievous! He comes with heaps of accessories, and looks the bomb!

Sideshow are also producing Empire Strikes Back - Hoth 1/6th scale figures - including the taun tauns!  Even though Han's and Luke's costumes were only showin for a little of the movie, they're pretty iconic, and Sideshow look like they're doing a terrific job re-creating them!

And other Sideshow news, Jim Raynor from Starcraft is getting the deluxe treatment!  This figure is massive (standing around 38cm), and is action-packed with articulation. Unfortunately he has a suitably huge price tag - but still, one can dream.  Jim is definitely "one of Sideshow’s most ambitious Sixth Scale projects to date."

Biggs is getting his own X-Wing - available exclusively at TRU (so not real big news for us here in Aus). It's a Vintage Collection Fighter, and should fit in well with the new smaller Black Series Biggs Darklighter figure from Hasbro.

Like the Jumbo Star Wars figures? Gentle Giant are releasing a Jumbo Kenner Droid action figure set, and it comes with a free backdrop from Episode IV as well. Droids... robots... and retro robots at that! It doesn't get much better Wink
